PROGRAM OUTLINE

Consulting, definition: 

“Engaged or involved in giving professional advice”

Our program examines the full consultancy cycle and prepares the delegates to undertake advisory and consultancy roles, or manage third party advisors and consultants, as appropriate. 

A question which often arises is that of contextualising or defining one’s offering. Or the relevance of one’s career to date within consulting. 

A key aspect of this program therefore addresses this. The program then moves on to ways in which one’s offerings be can clearly defined, positioned and marketed. 

Who Should Attend?

Those wishing to advise or consult as:

  • A freelance
  • An associate
  • An employee – internally or externally

or any combination of these options.

It is also suitable for:

  • Existing consultants wishing to expand and/or re-energise their offerings
  • Anyone responsible for hiring and/or managing consultants
  • Leaders, CEOs and Senior Managers with regular contact with, or recourse, to consultants 

Outline Curriculum

  • Introduction to the management consultancy profession
  • What consultants do
  • Internal and external consultants – similarities and differences
  • Overview of the full consultancy cycle
  • Defining your offering
  • Sales and marketing
  • Developing and presenting a consulting proposal in group
  • 1:1 sessions exploring and challenging thoughts and assumptions
  • Examining business requirements, ethics and fiscal responsibilities
  • Exploring routes to professional consulting qualifications

Program Components

  A full 5 day intensive program, including two evenings, plus a follow up 1:1 session within 30 days of completing the program.

A minimum of two Consulting Skills trainers will facilitate the program, with a guest speaker on a key aspect of the program.  

The aim is to support each delegate to achieve the understanding, skills and knowledge of Management Consultancy to enable them to practice consultancy in a professional environment.

On completion of this Professional Advisory and Consulting Skills Program, all candidates will receive the Quo Vadis Professionals (QVP) Award in recognition of their achievement and continued professional development (CPD). 

Professional Qualifications

​A session detailing the routes to full professional recognition and accreditation with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) will comprise the final module of the program, i.e.: 

  • CMI Level 5 Qualifications in Professional Consulting
  • CMI Level 7 Diploma in Professional Consulting
  • CMI SVQ in Leadership & Management at QCF Levels 5,7 and 9

QVP are pleased to offer development and support towards SVQs and the CMI Qualifications, Diploma and full Chartered Management Consultant status, enabling delegates to apply for Membership.
