Technology is the collection of techniques, methods or processes used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation. Technology can be the knowledge of techniques, processes, etc. or it can be embedded in machines, computers, devices and factories, which can be operated by individuals without detailed knowledge of the workings of such things. We frequently refer to tech companies which can be in different areas e.g. infotech, meditech, pharmatech and so on

We completed our research on IT companies registered in the Cambridge / ‘CB’ post code in June 2016.  We have 521 companies in the area on Company Connecting. . The area around Cambridge is sometimes known as Silicon Fen because of the number of companies working in technology.

We interviewed Finn Grimwood to get an idea of  what's happeinng with IT in Cambridge and the Silicon Fen area.

Silicon Fen is the area around Cambridge which has a cluster of high tech businesses. In our accompanying infographic which we will publish later this week we provide insights into the 521 IT companies we have on our database in the ‘Silicon Fen’ area. ARM is one of the massive success stories from the Cambridge area having created IP which 60% of the people in the world  come into contact with on a daily basis.

This weeks' Nutshell is Patrick Howard of Just Computing, a specialist Cloud Services provider with a 98% customer retention rate. Patrick's curiosity led to his career in computing. He clearly has a romantic streak as he chose the top of the Empire State Building to propose to his partner.
