Technology can be the knowledge of techniques, processes, etc. or it can be embedded in machines, computers, devices and factories, which can be operated by individuals without detailed knowledge of the workings of such things. We frequently refer to tech companies which can be in different areas e.g. infotech, meditech, pharmatech and so on

Technology Companies in the Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) area

Company Connecting received several responses to a statistic we published on Linkedin on the  IT and telecoms companies in the Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) area. This inspired us to create a new extended infographic to provide  graphs, charts and statistics on the companies

Company Connecting had several responses to a statistic we published on Linkedin on IT and telecoms companies in the Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) area. We received comments and queries about the information we hold.

This latest infographic looks at different aspects of the 163 IT and telecoms companies in the HIE area, including a number of dissolved companies. Companies in the HIE are differ from the Scottish norm in areas such as size, skills and sectors they service.

The Company Connecting Events Directory: Over the past few years, Laurent Mélin-Quinn has built and maintained a list of business and technology events in Scotland. His research contains loads of information i.e. the event title, date, skills, location and sector, from 2016 to 2018. He has very kindly passed this information onto Company Connecting, to continue to develop and publicise the directory.

Company Connecting is researching companies in the North East of England, and companies in the area have registered and updated their Company Connecting profiles.

The North East of England is one of the 9 official regions of England and covers Northumberland, County Durham, Tyne and Wear and part of North Yorkshire. We have used the DH, DL, NE, SR and TS post codes to identify the companies to include from our database in this infographic. So far, we have information on 182 IT and telecom companies in the NE of England. We expect this number to increase substantially.

Company Connecting has details of 4,400 IT and telecoms companies, 2,700 of which are in Scotland. The remainder are spread across the UK, with pockets in Cambridgeshire and the North East of England. We also have companies in other countries – the main hotspot is Estonia.
