Why we test: The Software Testing Dilemma

In the first article from Dave Kelly and his team at 2i Testing, we looked at taking an idea from conception to reality, the importance of engaging with the right suppliers, and the need for testing. This second article takes a look at why testing is so important.

One battle scarred IT professional commented on the previous article "I'm scunnered that folks do not build in testing from the outset. If this is not done how do they hope to ascertain if the product is right for their customer (internal or external)?"

Quite simply clients may not have a full understanding of what is involved in testing software and any IT systems. It is an intensive and time consuming exercise – it is a question of balance.
