Company Connecting has researched thousands of tech companies and so far has identified 4,400 companies which provide tech, IT and telecoms products and services. Company Connecting started its research in Scotland, and has details of more than 2,700 Scottish companies. The rest of the companes are scattered throughout the UK and other areas of the world, with hotspots for CC companies in North East England and Cambridgeshire. You can view the geographical spread via our map In a recent review of the current companies, and companies formed in the past three years, there appeared to be a disproportionate number of companies working in ‘Digital Marketing' which had either been created or dissolved. This encouraged us to take a more in depth look at the companies with a focus on 'Digital Marketing'. The infographic contains information on the 264 Scottish companies tagged as providing Digital Marketing products or services on Company Connecting. The definition of Digital Marketing on Wikipedia is “… the marketing of products or services using digital technologies, mainly on the internet, but also including mobile phones, display advertising and any other digital medium”. This could be interpreted as including companies that develop and market websites. However, on Company Connecting there are almost 1,000 companies with Web Design as a skill. We will take a closer look at these in a future infographic. In this infographic we selected companies that had a focus on marketing as well as web skills. There are some significant contrasts between the Digital marketing infographic and the many other Company Connecting infographics e.g. Software development appears as number 15 on the skills chart, with only 12% of the companies having these skills. In the majority of our other infographics software development is the top skill. In Scotland 30% of the tech companies have software development capability. This ties in with an earlier article on Company Connecting by Kenneth Mackay “Online Marketing is not IT’s job: SEO, SEM, and PPC.
