“In a Nutshell” series where we ask entrepreneurs and business people a series of questions to get an idea of what makes them tick. Our focus this week is on 'The Italians' - we have set up an Italian page to help connect Scottish and Italian companies. We feature Cristian Ranallo, the marketing and innovation advisor for siHealth a UK startup in Oxford. Cristian spends time in both the UK and Italy.
Main Focus of the Business?
Enabling healthy life style and smart healthcare, coupling satellite remote sensing and not invasive personal diagnostics to drive customers from “information” to the “healthy best decision”
What do you do now?
I work as consultant but at the moment I am collaborating as marketing and innovation advisor at SiHealth Ltd, Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire. My main role is creating a strategic plan for HAPPYSUN project and leading a pivotal role for SUN4HEALTH which is an EU funding project in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA). I help to facilitate growth and ensure that the company provides a solid base for scale and innovation for the future.
What was your very first job?
I started picking up fruit during the school holiday’s break. I remember with great pleasure that time where I learned quickly about working hard to build my future.
How did you get into IT?
I was always pretty curious about IT and I discovered more when I specialised in strategic marketing and digital experiences.
Interesting fact about you?
I started working in the commercial area but I decided to discover more about the great wall of the marketing world. I was not satisfied to know things already “cooked” by the marketing department so I put my self into discussion and I started from scratch to become a “marketer with a commercial aim”.
Favourite place?
My wife doesn’t like a lot my “weather needs” because…I really love Scotland! I did extensive travels all around there so my favourite is Lossiemouth! (My wife is laughing but she loves Scotland as well)
Dream Car?
My dream car is Tesla ROADSTER! Full electric but with a powerful heart.
Who would you most like to meet and why?
I would like to meet Kevin Kelly, the great technology visonnaire. It is a dream to have his book “ The inevitable” signed by him. I would be more than happy to discuss about global future developments of Artificial Intelligence.
Current Aspirations for the business?
In my vision, I will be honored to share my experiences with great consultancies companies and becoming a great manager in the near future.
