In a Nutshell with Szymon Szymczyna of Devbar and Treado

Main Focus of the Business
DevBar is digital creative marathon, pitching teams of developers, designers, project managers, and anyone else who works for creative industry. My focus is to make DevBar one the biggest events of its type in Scotland. I will provide the venue and the brief but the ultimate goal is to make sure people have lots of fun, and give them experience working as part of a team.

Treado is an online service which quickly, easily and at no cost, you can outsource any work, tasks, projects, that you have. Just describe the work that you need completed, and a contractor shall notify you by offering competitive terms and prices to fulfil the order. This allows you to choose the best offer, tailored specifically for you - and it's all free of charge! Treado in new start-up in Scotland (Aberdeen) and the main goal for me is to make Treado a worldwide service to help people to find the best contractor (offer) and get the job done.

What do you do now?
I am a software engineer at Intellicore

What was your very first job?
My first job was as a barman in my parent’s bar. Sometimes I miss working there because I am a people person and interacting with the customers was something I really enjoyed.

How did you get into IT?
My first computer which my dad bought me when I was 14 years old inspired me to to get into graphic design but with limited knowledge about computers I had a problem to understand how they work and which programs I should use. I remember the day when I bought my first IT books (which I still have) about development in Delphi. Pure software development was too boring for me and after a tutorial which I found on YouTube about web development I decided to give it try. To this day I always try to make something better and develop my IT skills and because of this I now currently work in IT.

Interesting fact about You?
When I develop, I love listening to old music such as Modern Talking or Dr. Alban. Every Monday I travel to Banchory to partake Archery. This is sport I have been doing since I finished primary school.

Favourite Place?
Austria. I spent some time in the Alps and it was amazing! I would love to live there.

Dream Car?
Audi RS6 and it must be blue.

Who would you most like to meet and why?
I don’t have any particular person that I would like to meet. However, I would like to meet someone who shares the same enthusiasm for new ideas such as myself, and who could mentor and support my ideas to make them bigger and better.

Current Aspirations for the business?
I want to like to see my Treado website as be a global business and give people the opportunity to gain experience and develop their skills.

For DevBar I would like this to be an annual event that people look forward to. It could provide an opportunity for people to network and learn to work together as part of a team.
