Company Connecting is pleased to announce that it is exhibiting at DataFest 2017, in Edinburgh on the 23rd and 24th of March. We work closely with a lot of powerful data across Scottish and UK IT and Tech sectors. We hope to gain a great deal from both attending and exhibiting, and look forward to seeing you all.

Datafest 2017 is an international summit held across two days, March 23rd and 24th, in Edinburgh Scotland. The focus of the summit is to hear from international experts, innovators and other key players to consider the impact that data has on society at large. The hashtag #DataChangesEverything which the festival was announced under is a clear example of the scope and ambitions of the festival, which is organised by Data Labs.

The festival is split into two days with two clear topics. The first day, the 23rd of March, takes a look at what DataFest call the ‘proof’. This involves the current applications, experiences and obstacles involved in providing value from data. The second day, held on the 24th of March, is being coined as the ‘future’ of data, where the international panelists and speakers will focus on the future potential of data.

Datafest is headlined by a host of exceptional speakers, including Hilary Mason, founder of Fast Forward Labs who are based in New York, as well as Nuria Olivier, European Digital Woman of the Year 2016. Hilary will be discussing Machine Intelligence and Machine Learning alongside Artificial Intelligence, while Nuria will tackle one of the central themes of DataFest, the use of data for good. John Akred of Silicon Valley Data Science will be running a presentation and panel disucssion on how to operate successful data science teams. Dr Hannah Fry of the BBC’s ‘Joy of Data’, as well as Marc Priestley, a former F1 racing tech expert and broadcaster will also be contributing to the summit.

Gillian Docherty, CEO of The Data Lab, said: “Data innovation is disrupting all areas of our lives from business to public services and beyond. The Data Summit, as the cornerstone of DataFest17, will provide insight into this dynamic and growing sector. The calibre of the programme speaks for itself – with keynotes, panels and pitches all brimming over with inspiration.

“Scotland is a melting pot of data innovation and this event will showcase our leading role in data on the international stage. Data really does have the potential to change everything.”

With UNICEF on board as charitable partner, and an array of organisations including Deloitte, Sainsbury’s Bank, NHS Scotland, IBM, Transport for London, Telefonica, CMS, Registrars of Scotland, Aquilla Insight and Snap40 also involved, DataFest 17 is sure to be a particularly insightful and innovative summit.

Of particular interest is the ‘Scottish Innovation Showcase’ featuring many Scottish startups who work closely with data.
