Is the UK’s tech sector missing out on R&D tax relief?

In the second of the Company Connecting series on R&D Tax credits, our guest author Mark Westwood, a technical analyst at Jumpstart asks the question "Is the UK’s tech sector missing out on R&D tax relief?"

There were 26,255 R&D tax relief claims made in 2016 of which only about 25% came from the “Information and Communication Sector”. It’s highly likely that there are many tech companies out there missing out on substantial sums of tax relief. For example, the average claim at Jumpstart for the software IT and software sector is £37,000.
